We air live every Tuesday (or maybe Thursday) around 9am at www.ustream.tv/channel/good-morning-interwebs.
We'll be doing the next episode from Dogpatch Labs on Thursday, January 28th at 9am.The show is hosted by Alli Mooney and Meghan Keane
Today on Good Morning Interwebs’ Wake Up With a Start Up:
Alli and Meghan went to SoHo to speak with Noah Glass about GoMobo.
At the beginning of the show, we go for a tour of their offices (on Wooster and Spring Street).
- The front of the office kind of looks like a sweet furniture store. Hence, they might start selling couches soon!
- We went down to the basement where Meghan hit their sacred gong to celebrate our 5 millionth viewer.
- Remember that Subway ad with the huge angry head? That was for Subway Now, powered by GoMobo. And they have the angry head in their basement.
- Alli tried on the angry head. Of course. But guess what? There are roaches underneath it. Watch Alli run!
Back upstairs, we talk about:
- the definition of “old”
- the genesis of GoMobo and its evolution from SMS to apps
- our friend Will Leitch lived online in Josh Harris’ apartment for a week (after the whole We Live In Public experiment flamed out) and wrote about his experiences for Salon.
- Using Foursquare’s business platform, Noah created a “deal” for their HQ. If you check into their basement office (Foos Burger) and beat their resident expert at Foosball, you get a free burger and beer from Lucky Strike. That’s a pretty sweet deal. You should go by and say hi.
- Meghan’s excited that Foursquare is bringing back the Buy Back. And other interesting marketing tricks 4square’s got going with local businesses.
- Alli loses the bet that 4Square has a Blackberry app, refuses to get locked in GoMobo’s torture chamber with cockroaches having already paid her debt earlier*
*For serious, you ought to watch Alli get stuck in the angry Subway head (its 5-10 minutes in). The best things in life really are free sometimes.
